Lobster -- CT Style

So, I will get to reference Ingress again....

As I've played the game, as I mentioned before, I was lucky enough to be able to explore areas that previously were relatively foreign to me. This included the Wooster Street area of New Haven (previously mentioned in this blog). However, it has also expanded my knowledge of chow on the CT Shoreline.

As a child, we frequented Jimmies of Savin Rock (West Haven, CT). My dad had grown up down the street and Jimmies was a bit of a cult following. I loved Jimmies. As a kid, their onion rings and clam strips were a way to my little kid heart. As I've gotten older, I've learned that I actually prefer the whole bellied clams and/or clams on the half shell. However, one thing that Jimmies also always had was lobster rolls. I have looked in Maine. I have looked at the Big E. I even looked in San Deigo for the same type of deliciousness on a bun....but no avail...

The delicacy that I refer to is a lobster roll. No, it does not have mayonnaise. Many lobster rolls that one will find has mayonnaise and celery. DO NOT BE FOOLED by imitations. A real lobster roll... It has lobster, and butter, and lemon, all in a lightly toasted/grilled New England Style hot dog roll. My friend, Si, in San Deigo, calls it a lobster hot dog, and refused to believe me that they existed. This beautiful nummin has Maine Lobster that is sautéed in butter and lemon, and then placed in the bun, with the leftover, salty, lemony butter.

I have had many a roll. Jimmie's is good. Lenny and Joes is better. Dish in Hartford does a decent one with microgreens placed on top. Guilford Mooring in Guilford, CT has an okay one. The Guilford Lobster Pound is meh. I've had the opportunity to taste more lately, as my Ingressing, and subsequently, Billy's Ingressing has taken us out and about more, as well as some cool friendships with some other players on our team who live on the shoreline, have led us to other locations for chow.

I landed at Lobster Landing a few weeks ago while returning a cable box to Comcast ...okay, and I was playing the game...don't judge. Anyway, it was a chilly, rainy weekday, and I was headed to this portal. Anyway, as I got there, I smelled the very delicious (sometimes not so much) smell of the ocean. I parked and walked over to this tent. The waitress was nice, and helped me, and I ordered and paid for my lobster roll to go. The menu is no frills. Canned soda, BYOB. Local Gelato. Hot Dogs, Sausage and Peppers, and Lobster. There is also a seafood house right next door that has some great prices on very fresh seafood coming right off the boat. Just amazing.

Anyway, given that this place was a tent and a shack, with a port a potty, I wasn't expecting what I got. Absolutely amazing. Delicious. Drippy in all the right ways. Outstanding.

That made me drag Billy this past weekend. He liked it too.

Needless to say, I'll be back. They are open until New Years, although I would think its damn cold then. Yay for Ingressing and new places with great food.

Going to check this place out..... oh dear god!
